I was reviewing some of the metrics of this substack, curious if things are landing with ya’ll. Apparently, not only is the content landing, it’s landing with a thud.
The eighty-four of you engage and read my work well above the typical Substack.
42% of subscribers open my emails; the average for “personal development” and “religion” is 25-30%. Typical substacks have open rates of 20%!
7% engagement per post (likes, comments, shares). Most have 1-5%.
~120 views per post. Most substacks for my size are about 30 views!
Many of you are opening the emails, revisiting the posts multiple times, and sharing them all. There’s a lot of organic readership, too! Thank you.
Here’s my commitment to you: This substack will stay free for as long as I can imagine.
My main source of income is not from writing, but from client sessions and energy healing classes. This substack remains a way for me to keep connected, and allow you to continue realizing who you are as soul. Plus, who really wants to pay for my self-indulgent poetry…? ;)
Refilling the Cup
I love creating things that come from my heart on a regular basis. As a channel, there is a seemingly infinite number of things to talk about and to create. My wife has remarked, “You are prolific.”
I made one promise to myself, however, if I ever decided to become a sort of “content creator.” That is to take breaks. To have “on” and “off” seasons. Time to retreat to myself, to the land, to the world, to the universe. In those spaces, I find something new to bring to you.
As I channel it in, I’m seeing December as my off season.
During that time, posts will still be coming in once or twice a week with guest writers.
One such guest writer is JJ, a fellow ablonista I met at Kailukuan. He will likely write about spirituality, as a Filipino-American living in Austin, and connecting with ancestors.

Content Coming Down the Pipe
To say this is a tumultuous time in society is a an understatement, and I am balancing whether to write a hot take or have the long view. That is to say, right now I have two posts in the drafts about Charlie Kirk and fascism. I’m letting them sit in the drafts to make sure they are spiritually aligned, and not an extension of my ego frustrations.

For the last two weeks I’ve been interviewing graphic artists, illustrators, and social media managers. I’m asking them to improve my Instagram and other social media sites, by the way of strategy and design.
So, expect a facelift in a month or two, as well as integrated content between my substack, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.
I’m really excited to bring someone on the team that can artistically express my words on the page. I’ll announce them when they’re fully on-boarded!
